SPONSORS – McDonald’s

Sports & Sponsorships

McDonald’s® has always stayed closely tied to our customers and what’s important to them. Our involvement with sports is no exception. We focus on sports that mean the most to Canadians, and reflect our values of universality, accessibility and team spirit.

Support at every level

McDonald’s reaches out to every level of sport, from the international Olympic Games to local community soccer clubs, and from professional hockey to local minor leagues.  McDonald’s believes in sport as a way to encourage our children to incorporate healthy balance and activity into their daily lives.

Hockey Canada and McDonald’s

McDonald’s enjoys a successful 25-year partnership with Hockey Canada. Our English and French Canadian house league programs, AtoMc (Atom Division) and Équipe McDo®(Bantam Division), are the only minor hockey sponsorship initiatives endorsed by Hockey Canada.

What is atoMc® Hockey?

atoMcHockey is a McDonald’s® Canada minor hockey sponsorship program of Atom level divisions across Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec) which provides free sets of pro-style jerseys and socks to all participating teams.

Our Olympic Record

McDonald’s first became involved with the Olympic Games by airlifting hamburgers to athletes competing in Grenoble, France in 1968.  McDonald’s became an Official Sponsor of the Olympic Games for the first time during the 1976 Olympic Summer Games in Montreal. From 1988 to 1994, McDonald’s was the sponsor of National Olympic Committees in several countries around the world.

In 1996, McDonald’s extended its long-standing commitment to the Olympic Movement by joining the Top Olympic Program (TOP) and becoming a Worldwide Sponsor. This was the first time in the history of the Olympic Games that a branded restaurant operated in the Olympic Village.

Since that time, McDonald’s has provided foodservice for athletes around the world at the Summer and Winter Games. We send our own crew members from around the world to each Olympic Games to serve athletes in the McDonald’s restaurant located in the Olympic Village.
